Call routing softwareEvery call to the right person — or the right AI — in seconds.
Ring groups for small teams, queues for busy ones, business hours for everyone, and an AI agent that steps in before a caller hangs up. Set it once; it runs itself.
How a call moves through TalkerIQ
Ring group
The sales team's phones ring together; first to answer takes it.
Queue
Caller hears position and hold music; next free agent gets it.
AI agent
After hours or overflow: answers, books, or takes a message.
What is call routing?
Call routing decides where an incoming call goes — which person, team or queue — based on rules such as the number dialled, the time of day, the caller's choice in a menu, who is available, or who owns the customer. TalkerIQ adds AI agents as a routing destination for after hours and overflow.
- Routes by
- Number, time of day, menu choice, availability, caller
- Ring groups
- Simultaneous, in order or round-robin
- Queues
- Hold music, position, max wait, overflow
- Overflow to
- Another team, voicemail or an AI agent
- Rings on
- Browser, desktop and mobile apps
- Visibility
- Live wallboard and answer-time reports
Sound familiar?
Monday mornings our support line was a wall of hold music — and we only found out how bad from the reviews.
Routing problems are invisible until customers complain. TalkerIQ makes them visible and fixable.
Long holds at peak times
Everyone is busy at once, callers wait, and some never call back.
The wrong person picks up
A customer with an open deal reaches someone who has never heard of them.
The office closes; the phone doesn't
Calls after hours or on holidays hit a generic voicemail.
How it works
How does call routing decide where a call goes?
Which number, what time?
Each number follows its own schedule — business hours, holidays and closures.
AutomaticWho is it?
Known customers can go straight to their owner; new callers to the right team.
AutomaticWho is free?
Ring groups ring several people at once or in order; queues hold callers for the next available agent.
Your teamToo busy or closed?
Overflow to another team, voicemail with transcription, or an AI agent that answers right away.
AI
Queues
Busy is fine. Waiting forever isn't.
Queues hold callers with music and position announcements, hand them to the next free agent, and escalate when the wait gets too long — to another team or straight to the AI.
- Max wait and max queue size before overflow
- Position and wait-time announcements
- Live view of who's waiting and for how long

Every call was answered — by a person or the AI — and logged with recording and summary.

Reviewed by the TalkerIQ product team · Updated
What's the difference between a ring group and a queue?
A ring group rings several people at once or in order, and the first to answer takes the call. A queue holds callers and connects them to the next available agent, with hold music and announcements — better for busy support or sales lines.
Can calls go to an AI agent when everyone is busy?
Yes. You can set the AI agent as overflow after a maximum wait or queue size, or as the after-hours destination.
Can I route calls differently on holidays?
Yes. Each number or menu can follow a schedule with holidays and one-off closures, each with its own greeting and destination.
Can calls ring on mobile phones?
Yes. Ring groups can include teammates on the TalkerIQ mobile app, and forwarding can include external numbers.
Can I see how long callers are waiting?
Yes. The live wallboard shows callers waiting, longest wait and agent status, and reports break down answer times and missed calls.
What is skills-based or owner routing?
Owner routing sends a known customer straight to the person who owns their account, and skills-based routing sends callers to agents with the right skill or language. TalkerIQ supports routing known callers to their owner.
Can I route calls by time zone or location?
Yes. Each number can follow its own business-hours schedule, so a local number for each location can route to that location's team during its hours and to an AI agent or another team outside them.
