What is an AI dialer?

An AI dialer is outbound calling software that dials contact lists automatically and uses AI to place calls, plan follow-ups and log outcomes. TalkerIQ combines a power dialer and a predictive dialer for reps with AI voice agents that call lists themselves, warm-transfer interested leads and retry by call or text at a better time.

Sound familiar?

My reps spend more time dialing, waiting and typing notes than actually talking to anyone.

Outbound rarely fails because of the pitch. It fails on reach and follow-through: too few conversations per hour, calls from numbers nobody picks up, and leads that go cold because the second and third touch never happened.

  • Most of the day is dead air

Typing numbers, listening to rings, waiting through voicemail greetings. A rep can make a lot of calls and still have only a handful of real conversations.

  • Nobody answers an unknown number

One out-of-state caller ID dialing hundreds of people a day gets screened — and eventually flagged.

  • Follow-up depends on memory

Who asked for a callback? Who got a voicemail? Without a system, the second attempt happens late, on the wrong channel, or not at all.

  • There are more leads than reps

New sign-ups, old lists and after-hours leads pile up faster than your team can call them — so the freshest ones wait.

How it works

From a list of names to booked meetings: how does an AI dialer work?

TalkerIQ is a cloud phone system for business with AI voice and SMS agents built in, so the dialer, the texts and the AI agents all work from the same contact. Here's what happens to a call list — and who handles each step.

  1. Load the list

Upload a CSV or pull contacts from your CRM. Map names and custom fields so every call and text can be personalised.

    Your team · minutes
  2. Pick who dials

Reps on a power or predictive dialer, AI agents calling the list, or AI for first touch and reps for the warm ones.

    You decide
  3. Design the follow-up

Drag call, text and wait steps onto a flow — or describe the cadence to Spark and let it build the flow for you.

    AI + your team
  4. Every lead gets a real next step

Local caller ID, one-click voicemail drop and AI smart retries pick the best time and channel for the next attempt.

    AI + automation
  5. Outcomes log themselves

Dispositions, recordings, AI summaries and bookings land on the contact and in your CRM — and the dashboard shows what is working.

    Automatic

Dial

The next call starts when the last one ends.

With the power dialer, reps never type a number again: the next contact dials as soon as they set an outcome, with that contact's history already on screen. For bigger teams and longer lists, the predictive dialer calls several lines at once and only connects reps to people who actually picked up.

  • Power dialing — one line per rep, back to back, with context before hello
  • Predictive dialing — paced to how many reps are free, so live answers aren't left waiting
  • One-click voicemail drop and dispositions, so wrap-up takes seconds

Delegate

Let AI agents make the first call.

Point an AI voice agent at a list and it calls in parallel — qualifying, answering questions, booking meetings or collecting survey answers in a natural voice. When a lead is ready for a person, it warm-transfers to a rep with the context on screen — the same call transfer your team uses on inbound calls.

  • AI outbound campaigns for speed-to-lead, re-engagement, reminders and surveys
  • Answers in about 1.2 seconds, in 12+ languages
  • Warm handoff to reps — the AI qualifies, your team closes

Follow up

The second, third and fourth touch happen on their own.

Build call-and-text sequences on a visual canvas that branch on what actually happened — answered, voicemail, no answer, replied, opted out. Or type the cadence in plain English and Spark, the campaign copilot, drafts it. AI smart retries then choose when and how to try each lead again.

  • Visual flow builder with templates, schedule preview and a launch checklist
  • Spark copilot turns "text first, call tomorrow evening" into a validated flow
  • AI smart retries pick timing, channel and intent per lead, inside your limits

Stay compliant

Reach more people without crossing a line.

Every call goes out from a real number you own, matched to the lead's area code with local presence dialing. Before each dial, TalkerIQ checks the lead's local time against your calling window, your Do-Not-Call list and opt-outs — and an opt-out by phone or text stops both channels.

  • Local presence from your own number pool — never spoofed caller ID
  • Calling windows by time zone, attempt limits and cooldowns
  • DNC and opt-out handling across call and SMS

A day on the dialer

What does a day on an AI dialer look like?

One renewals team, one list of 600 contacts, reps and AI working together. Names are illustrative.

  1. Marcus loads the list

The sales manager pulls 600 upcoming renewals from HubSpot, sends cold contacts to an AI campaign and callbacks to the reps' power-dialer queue.

  2. AI agents start first touch

Calls go out only inside each lead's calling window, from a local number. The AI confirms the renewal date and asks if anything has changed.

  3. A customer wants to add seats

The AI qualifies the request and warm-transfers the call to Priya, with a summary of what was said already on her screen.

  4. Priya closes the upgrade

She sets the "Upsell agreed" disposition. The deal stage and call recording sync to HubSpot without any typing.

  5. Callbacks on the power dialer

Priya works her callback queue back to back, dropping a recorded voicemail whenever a greeting answers.

  6. Smart retries take over

Leads who didn't answer get a text now and a call in the early evening, when the heatmap shows this list picks up.

  7. Every contact has an outcome

Marcus checks campaign analytics: each of the 600 contacts has a disposition and a scheduled next step — nobody was forgotten.

What is an AI dialer?

An AI dialer is outbound calling software that automates the dialing and follow-up around sales and service calls. In TalkerIQ that means power and predictive dialing for your reps, AI voice agents that can place and handle calls themselves, and AI that decides when and on which channel to try each lead again.

What is the difference between a power dialer and a predictive dialer?

A power dialer calls one number per rep and dials the next contact as soon as the current call ends. A predictive dialer calls several numbers at once and connects reps only to people who answer. Power dialing suits smaller teams and higher-value calls; predictive suits large lists and teams of several reps.

Can AI agents and reps work the same list?

Yes. A common setup is AI agents for first touch and re-engagement, with interested leads warm-transferred to a rep, and callbacks routed to the rep's power-dialer queue. Everything is logged on the same contact timeline.

How does TalkerIQ handle calling hours and Do-Not-Call lists?

Campaigns only dial inside the calling windows you set, based on each lead's time zone. Contacts on your Do-Not-Call list or who opt out by phone or text are closed out across both calls and SMS. You remain responsible for consent and for the rules that apply to your calls, such as the TCPA in the US.

Do I need a different number for each area code?

No. Local presence picks the best match from the numbers you already have in your account and falls back sensibly when there is no exact match. You can add numbers in new area codes as your markets grow.

Does the dialer work with my CRM?

Yes. TalkerIQ integrates with HubSpot, Salesforce, GoHighLevel, Pipedrive, Zoho and others, plus Zapier, webhooks and an API. You can load lists from your CRM, and dispositions, recordings, summaries and bookings are written back automatically.

Is AI cold calling legal?

AI cold calling is legal in many situations, but the rules are stricter than for calls placed by a person. In the US, calls that use an artificial or AI-generated voice generally need the recipient's prior express consent under the TCPA, and many states add their own limits. TalkerIQ enforces calling windows, Do-Not-Call lists and opt-outs, but you are responsible for consent. Get legal advice for your use case.

How much does an AI dialer cost?

The power dialer starts on Growth at $79 per user per month; predictive dialing and the AI outbound dialer are on Pro at $149 per user, with 100 AI minutes per user included. See TalkerIQ pricing for allowances and overage rates.
